Timeless Endeavors Humanities Core:
a unique learning experience

Course Description

This course is not being offered for the 2022-2023 school year.

During the 2021-2022 school year, we immersed ourselves in a survey of world history using outstanding resources of informational texts and literature. Throughout the year, students engaged in conversations and activities, learned valuable academic and life skills, and enjoyed the camaraderie of peers. Parents enjoyed knowing their children were learning and were able to gauge their accomplishment in the body of students’ collected work. Assignments were intended to spark enjoyment and inspiration; parents and children chose the level of assignments best-suited to the student’s abilities. The tutor provided assessment feedback. Parents assigned class grades.

Main components of the humanities core included the following:

  • Integrated world history and literature
  • Grammar, including parts of speech, mechanics, and diagramming
  • Vocabulary, focusing on the study of word roots
  • Composition, including copy work, dictation, and summaries for younger students; persuasive essays for older students
  • Latin, working towards mastery of fundamentals appropriate to level
  • Elementary students participate in a weekly three-hour core that includes history, English language arts, and Latin
  • Middle school and high school students may enroll in English, Latin, and history classes that meet separately for two hours each week
